Catastrophe Season

Woke up to heavy rains Saturdays ago, "Wow, bed weather." It was not the regular heavy rain... By 11 am news have been coming in of flooded areas. It did not stop... two weeks ago, floods was still in the news.

How resilient the Filipinos are. Setting aside political color and economic position- everybody geared up to help. It was not only traffic that was the great equalizer this time, the flood was too.

As numbers came in, finger pointing time again. But really, those civilians who came in to help just gritted their teeth and dove in to lend a hand. This is where your taxes go... 5 rubber boats.

The computer kept tab and gave information of what was happening- a lot of times graphic. Too much information like the deluge. It can be drowning. It can be drowning.

It was the helping hands that always brought hope. Those hands that typed for messages of help, that typed for calls, hands that texted, those hands that recorded the images, those hands that reached out to pull people out of the water, those hands that prayed, that cooked, that packed relief goods, that opened their own wallets, that drove around bringing goods, hands that touched other hands to say you are safe now, i am here to help... those hands- moving lips of promises and too late analysis were never a source of comfort... in these times, even nearing the elections.

I don't understand, is the catastrophe happening now or will happen in 2010?

I keep my faith while waiting for that time of peace.

Borrowing this video so I am reminded.
